Kayak Paddles

    Our paddle shafts consist of four pieces of sassafras wood reinforced with carbon fiber on each vertical side. We have found that sassafras has a good balance of weight and strength. The pieces of sassafras used in each shaft are carefully matched by grain/color/and density to ensure a well balanced kayak paddle.

     The blades are synthetic carbon and zylon fiber with foam core blades and dynel edging. The zylon layer is placed in the power face laminate to reduce punctures from hard impacts. The dynel edging eliminates the drastic wear associated other non foam core kayak paddles.

     Recently we have made the outer layer of our power faces with a combination carbon fiber/ dyed fiber glass. The green fibers woven with the normal carbon fiber in the picture below, can also but done in red. Full carbon fiber is of course an option too.
